Itinerary

Prepare yourself! You are leaving today for Cairo to start your magical journey to Egypt.

Upon arrival in Cairo, claim your bags and proceed toward the arrival hall. Our representative will meet you and assist you with your transfer to the hotel. (Standard check-in time is 3:00 pm). Our local representative will assist you with a smooth check-in.

Check in at the hotel and catch up on your rest. You can unwind or tour the city throughout the remaining part of the day.

Overnight in Cairo

Begin your day with a delightful buffet breakfast at the hotel and then embark on a full-day guided tour to explore one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Great Pyramids of Giza. These pyramids, which include Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus, were once considered by the Greeks to be a marvel of the world. It is astonishing to learn that a single pyramid is constructed from 2.3 million blocks, each weighing around two and a half tons. The sheer enormity of this architectural wonder is enough to leave one in awe, a feeling that countless writers and artists have tried to capture throughout the centuries. The Cheops Pyramid is especially fascinating, as its interior burial chambers are open to the public for inspection.

Located close to the pyramids is the Great Sphinx of Giza, which dates back to the time of Chephren (2620 BC). This incredible statue, made from natural yellowish limestone and standing at a height of 65 feet and a length of 187 feet, is a unique combination of a pharaoh's head with a lion's body. After visiting the pyramids, you can take a quick trip to the papyrus institute or a perfume shop.

Lunch will be at a local restaurant, and after that, you will be transported back to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and unwind at your own pace.

Overnight in Cairo

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Luxor Airport for your onward journey. Upon arrival, meet your guide and begin your exploration of the Valley of the Queens, where beautifully decorated royal tombs reveal fascinating insights into ancient Egyptian beliefs surrounding the afterlife. Continue to the impressive Habu Temple on Luxor’s west bank, renowned as the largest mortuary temple ever constructed for a pharaoh. Following the tour, return to your hotel in Luxor for an overnight stay.

Overnight in Luxor

After breakfast, check out and meet your guide to visit the impressive Karnak Temple Complex, regarded as the largest open-air museum in the world, which served as the spiritual heart of Upper Egypt from 2055 BC through the Ptolemaic era around 100 AD. Home to an extraordinary collection of ancient temples, statues, and sacred monuments, Karnak remains one of Egypt’s most iconic archaeological treasures.

Around noon, you may have the rare opportunity to witness a remarkable celestial phenomenon — a total solar eclipse expected to be visible across Luxor and many parts of Egypt for several minutes. In ancient Egyptian belief, solar eclipses symbolized a cosmic conflict between Ra, the Sun God, and Thoth, the Moon God. Such events were deeply connected to royal ceremonies, religious rituals, astronomical studies, artistic expression, and the development of ancient calendars. Observing a total eclipse is an awe-inspiring experience, both rare and unforgettable.

Eclipse Schedule:

  • Partial Eclipse Begins: 10:22:09
  • Total Eclipse Begins: 11:42:31
  • Maximum Eclipse: 11:45:16
  • Total Eclipse Ends: 11:48:01
  • Partial Eclipse Ends: 13:08:04

Overall Duration: 2 hours 45 minutes 55 seconds
Totality Duration: 6 minutes 20 seconds

Your tour begins at the Royal Cemetery and the famous Valley of the Kings, where 62 rulers of ancient Egypt were laid to rest. Continue to the magnificent Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, an architectural marvel of the New Kingdom, built in the 15th century BCE. End the excursion with a visit to the iconic Colossi of Memnon before returning to your Nile Cruise for dinner and onboard entertainment.

Overnight onboard the Cruise

After breakfast onboard, begin the day with a visit to the impressive Edfu Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt and dedicated to the falcon god Horus. Enjoy a traditional horse carriage ride through the local streets as you make your way to the temple, adding a charming and authentic touch to the experience. After the visit, return to the cruise and continue sailing along the Nile toward Kom Ombo while admiring the scenic river views and peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy a delicious lunch served onboard the cruise. In the afternoon, visit the fascinating Kom Ombo Temple, uniquely dedicated to two gods,  Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. Explore its remarkable symmetry, ancient carvings, and historical significance before returning to the cruise for the evening.

Overnight on Board the Cruise

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board as your Nile Cruise arrives in the colorful and culturally rich city of Aswan, renowned for its beautiful Nile scenery, granite quarries, and unique Nubian heritage. Your day of sightseeing begins with a visit to the famous High Dam, one of Egypt’s greatest modern engineering achievements, constructed to control the Nile’s annual flooding and provide electricity across the country. From the dam, enjoy panoramic views of Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest man-made lakes.

Continue to the fascinating Unfinished Obelisk, located within Aswan’s ancient granite quarries. This enormous monument, still attached to the bedrock, offers remarkable insight into the advanced stone-cutting techniques used by the ancient Egyptians and reveals how massive obelisks were carved and transported during the Pharaonic era.

Next, visit the enchanting Temple of Philae, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis, along with Hathor and other deities of ancient Egypt. Beautifully situated on an island in the Nile and reached by boat, the temple is celebrated for its elegant columns, detailed carvings, and captivating setting surrounded by tranquil waters.

Later, experience the charm and hospitality of Nubian culture with a memorable visit to a traditional Nubian Village. Sail across the Nile by motorboat to one of Aswan’s picturesque riverside villages, where brightly painted homes, lively markets, and warm local traditions create a vibrant atmosphere. Learn about Nubian customs, music, and daily life while enjoying the stunning scenery of the Nile and desert landscape.

After your excursions, return to the cruise ship and relax as you enjoy dinner on board while sailing along the peaceful waters of the Nile.

Overnight on Board the Cruise

Early in the morning at approximately 4:00 AM, your tour manager will escort you from your hotel to board a modern air-conditioned coach for a shared excursion to the magnificent Temples of Abu Simbel. Built by the great Pharaoh Ramses II, the twin temples of Abu Simbel are regarded as some of the finest masterpieces of ancient Egyptian civilization, showcasing the power, artistry, and grandeur of the New Kingdom.

Threatened by rising waters following the construction of the Aswan High Dam, the temples were famously relocated through a remarkable joint preservation effort by the Egyptian government and UNESCO, ensuring the survival of these extraordinary monuments for future generations.

The temples are dedicated to the universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and to Ramses II himself. The larger temple, often referred to as the Sun Temple of Ramses II, stands as a symbol of royal power and divine connection. Nearby, the Temple of Queen Nefertari, also known as the Temple of Hathor, honors both the beloved queen and Hathor, the goddess associated with love, beauty, and motherhood. Together, the two temples beautifully symbolize the union of Ramses II, Nefertari, Hathor, and the Sun God.

The journey between Aswan and Abu Simbel takes approximately three and a half hours each way through the dramatic desert landscapes of southern Egypt. Following your visit, return to Aswan and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, you will be driven to your hotel for check-in and an overnight stay.

The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You can choose to visit the Khan el Khalili bazaar, which is the perfect spot for some last-minute souvenir shopping.

Your memorable journey through Egypt concludes today. Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy some free time to explore Cairo at your own pace. Take the opportunity to visit any attractions you may have missed, such as the vibrant Khan el Khalili Bazaar, historic mosques, or enjoy some last-minute shopping for souvenirs. • We recommend having at least two blank passport pages for entry stamps.
  • U.S. and Canadian passport holders must obtain a visa in order to enter Egypt. You can purchase your visa at the airport upon arrival for $25. The entry authorities require exact change in crisp, new bills. You can purchase an electronic visa on the Egyptian Electronic Visa Portal website. Passport control officers at ports of entry can verify your e-visa in their systems. However, we advise keeping either a digital or hard copy of your e-visa in case of any system failures.
  • If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact each destination country’s consulate for your specific entry requirements.
