Itinerary

Prepare yourself! You are leaving today for Hanoi to start your unbelievable Essence of Vietnam and Singapore Journey.

Chao mung! Welcome to Vietnam and the captivating ancient capital, Hanoi. After landing in Hanoi, collect your luggage and head towards the arrival hall. Our team member will be there to greet you and help with your transportation to the hotel. (The standard check-in time is 3:00 pm.) Once you've checked in at the hotel, take a moment to unwind and rejuvenate. Depending on your arrival timing, seize the opportunity to leisurely explore the afternoon or evening at your own pace.

Overnight in Hanoi

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel. Embark on the first day of your journey with a guided tour of Hanoi. Depart from the hotel at 08:30 to explore Vietnam's oldest university, the Temple of Literature, established in 1076. Originally named Quoc Tu Giam, this institution was housed within a temple and aimed to educate the country's elite, including royalty and mandarins. Continue the tour with a stop at the renowned One Pillar Pagoda, among Vietnam's most iconic temples. Nearby lies the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, a pivotal figure in Vietnam's modern history, along with his modest stilt house. Please note that these sites are observed from the outside and are closed on Mondays and Fridays, as well as during October and November.

Conclude the morning with a visit to the scenic West Lake and the Tran Quoc Buddhist Pagoda, dating back to the sixth century. Tran Quoc Pagoda holds the distinction of being Hanoi's oldest pagoda, with a history spanning over 1,500 years. Enjoy lunch at an authentic Vietnamese restaurant, followed by free leisure time for the remainder of the day.

Add-on: Water Puppet Show including transfers - USD 20 Per person (minimum 2 travelers)
The Hanoi Water Puppet Show is a unique and captivating traditional Vietnamese art form that dates back over a thousand years. Performed on a waist-deep pool of water, skilled puppeteers stand behind a screen and use long rods hidden beneath the water’s surface to bring wooden puppets to life. The show combines storytelling, music, and vibrant puppetry to depict scenes of rural life, folklore, and historical legends, often accompanied by traditional Vietnamese instruments and singing. This enchanting performance offers visitors a rare glimpse into Vietnam’s cultural heritage and is a must-see experience when visiting Hanoi.

Overnight in Hanoi

If you want to experience how locals in Hanoi start their day, wake up early and head to a nearby lake to join the lively scene of hundreds of residents practicing morning exercises such as Tai Chi, jogging, martial arts, and traditional dance. After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we’ll depart for Halong Bay, which is about a three-and-a-half-hour drive away. Upon arriving at Halong City’s pier around noon, you’ll check in and board the boat, where a warm welcome awaits you. A delicious lunch will be served as the vessel sets sail across the bay. In the afternoon, you can explore the scenic surroundings, participate in activities arranged by the boat (depending on the itinerary), or simply relax on deck. As evening falls, the boat will anchor among the stunning karst formations for the night, and dinner will be served onboard.

For those who wake up early, a remarkable sunrise over the karst formations of Halong Bay can be a memorable experience. Following this, breakfast will be served shortly. You can savor your breakfast (or brunch on certain boats) while the vessel gently navigates through the stunning rock formations, heading back to the port.

Upon disembarking, our guide and driver will be ready to transport you to Hanoi for your departing flight. Once back on land, we will arrange for your transfer to catch a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival at the airport, you will transferred to your hotel.  Upon check-in relax.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

This morning, you'll embark on a 55-kilometer drive from Ho Chi Minh City to Cu Chi District, renowned for its remarkable network of underground tunnels. These tunnels extend for over 200 kilometers and consist of a central system with numerous interconnected branches leading to hideouts, shelters, and other subterranean passageways. For lunch, you'll have the opportunity to savor traditional noodles.

In the afternoon, you'll immerse yourself in the attractions of Ho Chi Minh City. This will include viewing examples of French colonial architecture and delving into Vietnam's tumultuous history at the Museum. Your guide will lead you to the most intriguing sights that Ho Chi Minh City has to offer.

You'll commence by departing from your hotel to the Reunification Palace, a beautifully preserved residence that once housed the President of the Republic of Vietnam. On April 30th, 1975, this iconic place marked the official end of the American War. Following that, you'll visit Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, which was constructed in 1880, and the Old Post Office, a stunning example of classical French colonial architecture built between 1886 and 1891.

Your final stop will be at a local market, where you can practice your bargaining skills while shopping for souvenirs and immerse yourself in the local way of life and culture. Here, you'll encounter some of the most friendly, vibrant, and hospitable people in the city. Following this eventful day, you'll return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and have free time for the remainder of the day.

Add-on: Dinner Cruise on Saigon River : USD 95 Per person (minimum 2 travelers)

You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Cai Be. The first stop is An Cu rice factory. From Cai Be tourist wharf, disembark to explore the floating rice market—the largest rice export hub in the Southwest—where you’ll gain insight into the daily lives of local small businesses. Visit the historic village in Dong Hoa Hiep commune and the Cai Be floating market. After leaving the market, the boat will take you to Tan Phong Island to visit Hai Yen honey bee farm and its flower gardens. Here, you can explore flower and bee farms, Linh Chi mushroom cultivation, experience traditional fish dragging, walk across the Monkey Bridge, and learn about the world of beekeeping. Enjoy fresh honey tea and a briefing on bee-keeping processes. Next, visit Ms. Hang’s house to tour her fruit garden and pick fresh fruits yourself. After bidding farewell, enjoy a musical exchange featuring traditional Southern Vietnamese music. Then, take a rowing boat ride to Mekong Ecolodge where you’ll join a cooking session and have lunch. Following lunch, visit Ms. Hang’s house again to watch the rice paper-making process, then proceed to an aunt’s home to observe bamboo weaving with banana leaves. Continue cycling to Ms. 10’s house to see house roofing techniques, and then to Ms. Thao’s home to learn water hyacinth weaving, where you can create a handmade souvenir under her guidance. After saying goodbye to Ms. Thao, return to Mekong Ecolodge for rest before heading back to your hotel.

Planning a trip to Vietnam & Singapore ?

Visa requirements: To enter Vietnam, U.S., and Canadian citizens need a valid passport with an expiration date extending at least six months beyond the date of return.

  • We recommend having at least three blank passport pages for entry stamps.
  • U.S. and Canadian passport holders must obtain a visa to enter Vietnam. You must obtain your Vietnam visa in advance by purchasing an electronic visa from the Vietnam Immigration Department, by applying directly to the Vietnamese consulate
  • There’s no visa required for U.S. or Canadian citizens traveling to Singapore
  • If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact each country’s consulate for your specific entry requirements.

Cultural Sites: Respect local customs and traditions. Dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites. Some cultural sites might have specific rules. For example, removing shoes before entering certain temples or pagodas is customary.

Singapore is a melting pot of cultures—Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western influences coexist peacefully. Be respectful of all religions and customs, especially in temples or places of worship.

Weather: Vietnam and Singapore's climate varies significantly between regions and seasons. Temperatures in this region can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius), especially during the summer months. Northern Vietnam experiences four distinct seasons, while the south tends to be more consistently hot and humid. Plan accordingly based on the regions you're visiting and the time of year.

Clothing and Packing: We suggest bringing lightweight, loose clothes that can be layered for temperature changes, along with a light jacket or rain gear. For exploring, a sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers is ideal. Outdoor activities call for waterproof shoes or sandals, a swimsuit, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Binoculars come in handy for observing local wildlife and landscapes. Carrying a small hand sanitizer is useful when facilities are scarce while traveling. Consider packing smarter attire if visiting upscale restaurants or attending special events.

Language: Vietnamese is the official language in Vietnam, but English is widely spoken in most tourist areas.

In Singapore English is one of the official languages and widely spoken, making communication easy for most travelers.

Currency and Payment: The official currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). While major establishments accept credit cards, it's advisable to have cash, especially for smaller shops, local markets, or rural areas.

The currency is the Singapore Dollar (SGD). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s good to carry some cash for hawker stalls and small shops.

Local Cuisine: Vietnamese cuisine is diverse and delicious. Embrace street food but ensure it's from reputable vendors to avoid any stomach issues. Be adventurous with flavors, but also be mindful of spice levels if you're not accustomed to them.

As you continue to Singapore, get ready to explore a food culture that’s just as diverse and exciting. Singaporean cuisine blends Southeast Asian influences with touches of British, Portuguese, Middle Eastern, and Filipino flavors. With a reputation as one of the world’s top food capitals, Singapore’s dynamic restaurant and hawker scene promises something delicious around every corner—perfect for food lovers of all kinds.

Electricity: Vietnam operates on a 220-volt, 50Hz electrical system and commonly uses Type A, C, and sometimes Type F plugs. Travelers from countries like the U.S., UK, or Australia will likely need a plug adapter and possibly a voltage converter, depending on their device. Singapore, on the other hand, uses a 230-volt, 50Hz system with Type G plugs—the same style as the UK. Visitors from outside the UK should bring a suitable adapter for their devices. Most modern electronics like phone chargers and laptops support a wide voltage range (100–240V), so a simple plug adapter is usually sufficient when traveling between these two countries.

Time zone: Vietnam is in the Indochina Time Zone (ICT), which is UTC +7 hours.
Singapore operates on Singapore Standard Time (SGT), which is UTC +8 hours.

This means Singapore is 1 hour ahead of Vietnam. For example, when it’s 9:00 AM in Hanoi (Vietnam), it’s 10:00 AM in Singapore.

Health Precautions: Stick to bottled water and refrain from consuming tap water, even while brushing your teeth. When it comes to food, avoid eating raw fruits and vegetables unless they've been thoroughly cooked, washed in clean water, and peeled. These precautions can help prevent health issues during your trip.

Cleanliness is a Big Deal and Chewing gum Restriction
Singapore is famously clean and orderly. Littering, spitting, and chewing gum in public are offenses that can result in fines. Respect local laws—no graffiti, no jaywalking. Importing or selling chewing gum is prohibited (except for medical use). Don’t bring it with you—it’s not worth the hassle at customs.
