Planning a trip to French Polynesia?
Visa requirements: To enter French Polynesia, U.S. and Canadian citizens need a valid passport that remains valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of departure from French Polynesia (6 months is recommended for international travel). We recommend having at least two blank passport pages for entry stamps.
U.S. and Canadian citizens do not require a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days. If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact the appropriate French consulate for your specific entry requirements.
Culture and customs: French Polynesia has a relaxed island culture where respect for local traditions is appreciated. Lightweight, casual clothing is suitable in most places, but modest attire is recommended when visiting villages, churches, or cultural sites. Always ask permission before photographing local people.
Weather: French Polynesia has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. The dry season (May to October) offers cooler, less humid weather, while the wet season (November to April) brings higher humidity and occasional tropical showers. Pack lightweight clothing, rain protection, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
Local laws: Familiarize yourself with local laws and customs. French Polynesia follows French law, and penalties for drug offenses are severe. Respect protected marine environments and local conservation regulations.
Language: French and Tahitian are the official languages. English is commonly spoken in major tourist areas, hotels, and resorts.
Currency: The official currency is the CFP Franc (XPF). Credit cards are widely accepted at resorts, hotels, and larger businesses, but carrying some cash is recommended for smaller shops, markets, and remote islands.
Transportation: Inter-island travel is primarily by domestic flights and ferries. Rental cars, taxis, bicycles, and water taxis are available on many islands. Transportation options may be limited on smaller islands, so plan accordingly.
Electricity: The standard voltage is 220V, with European-style Type C and Type E power sockets. Travelers from North America may need a plug adapter and voltage converter for certain devices.
Time zone: French Polynesia spans multiple time zones. Tahiti, where most visitors arrive, operates on Tahiti Time (UTC-10).
Safety: French Polynesia is generally a safe destination. Take normal travel precautions, safeguard valuables, and exercise caution when participating in water activities or hiking in remote areas.

REVIEW
Our South Pacific cruise exceeded every expectation! Everything was perfectly organized, from our airport transfer in Papeete to boarding the Norwegian Spirit. Moorea and Bora Bora were even more beautiful than the photos, and spending the night in Bora Bora gave us extra time to enjoy the island. Rarotonga was a wonderful surprise with its friendly locals and relaxed atmosphere. The days at sea were equally enjoyable, with excellent food and entertainment onboard. Every detail was taken care of, making this a completely stress-free vacation. We returned home with unforgettable memories and would happily book another trip with Voyages Hub.
This itinerary was the perfect combination of relaxation and island exploration. We loved starting our trip with a night in Tahiti before boarding the Norwegian Spirit. Moorea's scenery was breathtaking, and Bora Bora truly lived up to its reputation as one of the world's most beautiful destinations. Raiatea offered a wonderful glimpse into Polynesian culture, while Rarotonga was peaceful and incredibly welcoming. The cruise itself was excellent, with comfortable accommodations, delicious dining, and outstanding service. Everything ran smoothly from beginning to end, and we highly recommend this itinerary to anyone looking for an unforgettable South Pacific adventure.
This was one of the best vacations I've ever taken. The itinerary was well planned, allowing plenty of time to experience each destination without feeling rushed. French Polynesia is absolutely stunning, especially Bora Bora and Moorea, while the stop in the Cook Islands added a unique cultural experience. The Norwegian Spirit was beautiful, with fantastic restaurants, friendly staff, and plenty of activities during the sea days. Airport transfers, hotel arrangements, and cruise embarkation were all seamless, making the entire journey easy and enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the South Pacific.
