Planning a trip to Dubai?

Visa requirements:  To enter Spain, U.S. and Canadian citizens must possess a valid passport that expires at least six months after their planned return. It’s advisable to have at least one blank page in your passport for entry stamps.

Starting in 2025, U.S. and Canadian passport holders will be required to register for an ETIAS travel authorization to enter many European countries. This requirement applies to passport holders from over 60 visa-exempt countries, including the U.S. and Canada, for visits to 30 European nations. Even if you’ve traveled to these countries before without a visa, you’ll need ETIAS authorization for future visits. If you’re visiting multiple countries that require it, you only need to fill out the form once. All Go Ahead travelers must secure their own ETIAS travel authorization prior to departure.

Packing tips : We suggest bringing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing that can be layered to adapt to different temperatures, along with a light jacket or rain gear. A sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers is essential for sightseeing. If you plan to dine at an upscale restaurant or attend a special event, consider packing dressier outfits.

When visiting churches or other religious sites, it’s best to avoid bare legs and shoulders, as entry may be denied. We also recommend carrying a reusable water bottle to reduce single-use plastic waste.

Don’t forget a universal adapter and a voltage converter if you intend to use your own hairdryer or devices that lack a built-in converter. Lastly, it’s wise to keep your medical insurance card in your carry-on for emergencies.

Weather:In the summer months (June-September), travelers can expect heatwaves with temperatures consistently above 90F.

Health: At least 60 days before your departure, consult your doctor or healthcare provider for the latest updates and entry requirements, or visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website at cdc.gov. If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, please inform Go Ahead Tours at least 30 days prior to departure by logging into your account and updating your traveler information. For any last-minute updates, contact our Customer Experience Team.

Ensure you have enough daily medication for the duration of the tour, accounting for any potential delays.

The water is generally safe to drink during your tour unless otherwise indicated.

Cuisine: The cuisine in Spain's southern Andalusia region is significantly influenced by neighboring countries, featuring many Arabic elements. Kebabs are a popular choice, and desserts often include almonds, honey, and cinnamon. Be sure to try the renowned Serrano ham, a regional delicacy, as well as the famous chilled soup, gazpacho.

Catalan cuisine, prevalent in Barcelona, stands out from that of other Spanish regions. Almost every restaurant serves pa amb tomàquet, which is toasted bread topped with tomato and olive oil. Fresh seafood, hearty meat dishes, a variety of cheeses, and locally sourced vegetables, such as wild mushrooms, are essential components of this culinary tradition.

Language: Spanish is the official language in Spain, but English is widely spoken in most tourist areas.

Currency: The official currency is the EUROS (EUR), and most places accept credit and debit cards. It is advisable to exchange currency or withdraw cash upon arrival.

Time zone: Spain is six hours ahead of Eastern time

Responsible travel : When engaging with locals, always ask for permission before taking their photo and approach cultural differences with empathy and an open mind. We encourage our travelers to minimize waste, particularly single-use plastics, while traveling. You can help reduce plastic waste by bringing your own toiletries, using electronic documents, and carrying a reusable water bottle and shopping bag. If you must use plastic or paper items, please make sure to recycle them.
