Welcome to Vietnam! Upon arrival at Hanoi Airport, you will be met by your private guide and driver and transferred to the city center, a journey of approximately one hour. Upon reaching the hotel, check-in will be available from 14:00 hrs. The remainder of the day is free for you to relax and explore at your own pace.
As evening approaches, visit Hanoi Beer Street (Ta Hien Street), one of the most vibrant areas in the Old Quarter. Here, you can enjoy traditional Vietnamese beer while experiencing the lively atmosphere, bustling streets, and local culture that make this area so popular among both locals and visitors.
Overnight in Hanoi
After breakfast, begin your exploration of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Your first stop is the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex, where you will learn about the life and legacy of Vietnam’s most revered leader. You will also visit his simple House-on-Stilts and the nearby One Pillar Pagoda, one of the city’s most iconic religious landmarks. Located close to Ba Dinh Square, this area is considered one of the most historically significant sites in Hanoi.
Continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, founded in 1076. Originally established to educate royalty, mandarins, and members of the elite, the university operated for more than seven centuries. The beautifully preserved architecture, peaceful courtyards, and traditional gardens offer a fascinating insight into Vietnam’s educational and cultural heritage.
Later, visit a tranquil riverside garden located along the Red River. Popular among local residents, the area is known for its flower fields, scenic stone banks, and relaxing green surroundings. During your visit, enjoy one ride on the colorful Rainbow Slide, stroll through seasonal flower displays, admire the riverside scenery, and capture memorable photographs in this picturesque setting.
In the late afternoon, proceed to Hoan Kiem Lake and visit Ngoc Son Temple, peacefully situated on a small island in the middle of the lake. Accessed via an elegant red wooden bridge, the temple remains one of Hanoi’s most cherished landmarks.
To conclude the day, enjoy a walk through the famous Old Quarter, often referred to as the “Quarter of the 36 Guilds.” This historic district reflects the atmosphere of Hanoi during the 1950s and is filled with traditional shops, local businesses, and charming streets where you can experience daily life and browse local products at your leisure. Dinner will be at your own arrangement before returning to the hotel.

Planning a trip to Vietnam?
Visa requirements: To enter Vietnam, U.S., and Canadian citizens need a valid passport with an expiration date extending at least six months beyond the date of return.
- We recommend having at least three blank passport pages for entry stamps.
- U.S. and Canadian passport holders must obtain a visa to enter Vietnam. You must obtain your Vietnam visa in advance by purchasing an electronic visa from the Vietnam Immigration Department, by applying directly to the Vietnamese consulate
- If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact each country's consulate for your specific entry requirements.
Cultural Sites: Respect local customs and traditions. Dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites. Some cultural sites might have specific rules. For example, removing shoes before entering certain temples or pagodas is customary.
Weather: Vietnam's climate varies significantly between regions and seasons. Temperatures in this region can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius), especially during the summer months. Northern Vietnam experiences four distinct seasons, while the south tends to be more consistently hot and humid. Plan accordingly based on the regions you're visiting and the time of year.
Clothing and Packing: We suggest bringing lightweight, loose clothes that can be layered for temperature changes, along with a light jacket or rain gear. For exploring, a sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers is ideal. Outdoor activities call for waterproof shoes or sandals, a swimsuit, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Binoculars come in handy for observing local wildlife and landscapes. Carrying a small hand sanitizer is useful when facilities are scarce while traveling. Consider packing smarter attire if visiting upscale restaurants or attending special events.
Language: Vietnamese is the official language in Vietnam, but English is widely spoken in most tourist areas.
Electricity: Vietnam operates on a 230-volt system and uses plug types A, E, or F, featuring two flat pins, two round pins, or three round pins, respectively. Bringing a universal adapter is recommended, along with a voltage converter if you intend to use personal devices like a hairdryer without a built-in converter. Air conditioning in Asian hotels might differ from what you're accustomed to in the U.S. or Canada. It's often regulated seasonally and centrally controlled by the hotel, with the strength and cooling capacity sometimes being less robust. While hotels may offer amenities like hairdryers, irons, and small appliances, these items aren't guaranteed in every room. Thus, it's advisable to check with the hotel or consider bringing your own if these are essential for your stay.
Currency and Payment: The official currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). While major establishments accept credit cards, it's advisable to have cash, especially for smaller shops, local markets, or rural areas.
Local Cuisine: Vietnamese cuisine is diverse and delicious. Embrace street food but ensure it's from reputable vendors to avoid any stomach issues. Be adventurous with flavors, but also be mindful of spice levels if you're not accustomed to them.
Electricity: The standard voltage is 220-240V, and the power sockets are the British three-pin type.
Time zone: Vietnam is 11 hours ahead of Eastern Time (ET)..
Health Precautions: Stick to bottled water and refrain from consuming tap water, even while brushing your teeth. When it comes to food, avoid eating raw fruits and vegetables unless they've been thoroughly cooked, washed in clean water, and peeled. These precautions can help prevent health issues during your trip.
