The journey concludes with a visit to Cape Breton Island’s charming Baddeck, home to the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, before returning to Halifax for departure.
Itinerary
Your journey begins in Halifax, the vibrant capital of Nova Scotia, where you’ll arrive and settle into the rhythm of Atlantic Canada. After checking into your hotel, spend the afternoon strolling along the Halifax Waterfront, a lively promenade lined with shops, restaurants, and historic ships. Take in the maritime atmosphere as you explore the boardwalk, enjoying views of the harbor and perhaps spotting local street performers. Later, visit the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, a star-shaped fortress perched above the city, where you can immerse yourself in Nova Scotia’s military history and enjoy panoramic views of the city skyline. The day concludes with free time to relax or explore nearby pubs and restaurants, soaking in Halifax’s welcoming vibe.
Overnight in Halifax
After breakfast, embark on a breathtaking coastal drive southwest of Halifax to Peggy’s Cove, one of Canada’s most photographed locations. The journey itself offers spectacular seaside vistas and quaint fishing hamlets along the Lighthouse Route. Upon arrival, marvel at the Peggy’s Point Lighthouse, dramatically perched atop smooth, wave-worn granite rocks. Take time to wander through the fishing village, where brightly painted houses, lobster traps, and fishing boats create a postcard-perfect setting. Visit local artisans’ studios or enjoy a coffee overlooking the rugged Atlantic coastline.
Continue your scenic drive along the South Shore to Mahone Bay, famous for its trio of iconic waterfront churches and charming boutiques. Pause for lunch at a cozy café offering fresh local seafood. Then proceed to Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved 18th-century British colonial architecture. Stroll through its colorful streets, visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, and admire the Bluenose II, a replica of the legendary racing schooner. In the late afternoon, enjoy free time to explore shops or relax at a harbor-view café before returning to Halifax.
Overnight in Halifax
This morning, journey west into the fertile Annapolis Valley, a region of orchards, vineyards, and rolling farmland nestled between two mountain ranges. Begin your day at a local winery, where you’ll learn about Nova Scotia’s cool-climate wines and enjoy a guided tasting paired with local cheese or fruit. Continue to Wolfville, a lively university town known for its artistic flair and farm-to-table dining. Take a short walk along the Harvest Moon Trail for lovely countryside views before stopping for lunch at a bistro featuring regional ingredients.
In the afternoon, travel toward the coastal town of Digby, famed as the “Scallop Capital of the World.” Along the way, stop at the historic Annapolis Royal, one of Canada’s oldest European settlements. Visit Fort Anne National Historic Site, where centuries of history come alive through exhibits and preserved ramparts. Upon arrival in Digby, enjoy free time to stroll the picturesque waterfront and watch fishing boats unload their daily catch. Conclude the day with a seafood dinner featuring fresh Digby scallops.
Overnight in Digby
After breakfast, depart Digby and travel toward the breathtaking Bay of Fundy, home to the highest tides on Earth. Cross into New Brunswick and stop at the famous Hopewell Rocks, where massive sandstone formations—known as “flowerpot rocks”—stand like sentinels along the coast. At low tide, you can walk along the ocean floor among these towering natural sculptures; at high tide, the same area transforms into a dramatic seascape. Take time to explore the interpretive center to learn about the region’s unique geology and ecosystem.
Enjoy lunch en route, then continue to Saint John, the oldest incorporated city in Canada, located on the Bay of Fundy. Upon arrival, explore the Saint John City Market, a vibrant marketplace dating back to the 19th century, filled with local delicacies, artisan crafts, and friendly vendors. Later, visit Reversing Falls Rapids, a fascinating natural phenomenon where the tides force the Saint John River to flow backward. End your day with a leisurely walk along Market Square and the waterfront boardwalk, perhaps sampling local cuisine or live music before retiring for the night.
Overnight in Saint John
This morning, journey to Fundy National Park, a sanctuary of forests, waterfalls, and rugged coastline. Begin with a gentle hike on the Dickson Falls Trail, a scenic loop that leads through lush moss-covered forest to a cascading waterfall. Keep your camera ready for glimpses of local wildlife such as songbirds or white-tailed deer. If time permits, stop at Point Wolfe or Herring Cove for panoramic coastal views of the Fundy shoreline.
]After lunch, continue to Moncton, known as the “Hub City” of the Maritimes. Along the way, stop at Cape Enrage to view dramatic cliffs and a historic lighthouse offering sweeping views of the Bay of Fundy. Upon arrival in Moncton, explore Centennial Park, a green urban oasis, or experience the optical illusion at Magnetic Hill, where cars appear to roll uphill on their own. In the evening, enjoy a group dinner highlighting regional cuisine before unwinding at your hotel.
Overnight in Moncton
After breakfast, drive across the impressive Confederation Bridge, an engineering marvel spanning 12.9 km (8 miles) to Prince Edward Island. Your first stop is Cavendish, home to the Green Gables Heritage Place, where the beloved world of Anne of Green Gables comes to life. Explore the farmhouse that inspired the novel, stroll through the Haunted Woods Trail, and immerse yourself in the island’s literary history.
Next, enjoy lunch at a local café serving PEI specialties such as mussels or lobster rolls before continuing to Charlottetown, the island’s charming capital and the birthplace of Canadian Confederation. Take a guided walking tour through the historic downtown, featuring landmarks like Province House, St. Dunstan’s Basilica, and Victoria Row, lined with cafés and boutiques. In the evening, you may opt to attend a local musical performance or enjoy a relaxed dinner featuring PEI’s renowned potatoes and seafood.
Overnight in Charlottetown
Depart Charlottetown after breakfast and journey back to Nova Scotia, crossing the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton Island, famed for its rugged beauty and Celtic heritage. Continue to the lakeside village of Baddeck, the gateway to the Cabot Trail. Visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, where interactive exhibits showcase Bell’s pioneering inventions in communication and aviation, along with his experiments conducted on nearby Bras d’Or Lake.
In the afternoon, take a relaxing stroll through Baddeck’s waterfront, browsing local artisan shops or enjoying coffee with a view of the lake’s calm waters. For those seeking a bit of adventure, optional activities include a short boat cruise on Bras d’Or Lake or a visit to the Uisge Ban Falls trail for a gentle nature walk. Conclude your day with a traditional Cape Breton dinner and perhaps live local music, reflecting the island’s vibrant Gaelic culture.
Overnight in Baddeck
Begin your final day with a scenic drive from Baddeck back to Halifax, enjoying the picturesque landscapes of Cape Breton Island along the way. Depending on your departure time, you may have a few hours in Halifax to visit a local café, browse artisan shops, or take a final stroll along the waterfront. PLANNING A TRIP TO CANADA ?
Entry Requirement: To enter Canada (or the U.S. on the tour extension), it is essential for both U.S. and Canadian citizens to hold a valid passport with an expiration date extending at least six months beyond the reentry date. Non-U.S. or Canadian citizens should contact the consulate of their destination country to ascertain specific entry requirements. U.S. citizens are required to have valid government-issued identification for air travel within the United States. Starting May 7, 2025, state-issued IDs or driver's licenses for air travel must meet Real ID requirements. Real ID-compliant versions will display a yellow or black star, a white star inside a yellow or black circle, or a white star inside a bear in the top right-hand corner. Further information can be found at dhs.gov. Similarly, Canadian citizens must have valid government-issued identification for air travel within Canada.
Baggage: It's crucial to note that each traveler is limited to one checked bag and one carry-on bag due to limited storage space on motor coaches and other modes of transportation, including train connections or flights, that are part of the tour. For specific information regarding baggage size and weight restrictions, including details about on-tour flights and round-trip flights to and from the tour, kindly reach out to your airline(s) directly. Please be aware that the baggage limits for the included on-tour flights may be more stringent. Additionally, some airlines may impose extra charges if you opt to check baggage or exceed size and weight limitations. It is your responsibility to cover any baggage fees incurred on all flights. To facilitate smooth travel, it is advisable to label your baggage and keep valuable items, medication, and important documents in your carry-on bag.
Packing Tips: Packing tip: It's recommended to pack lightweight and loose-fitting clothing that can be layered easily to accommodate fluctuating temperatures. Remember to include a light jacket or rainwear for unpredictable weather conditions. For spring and fall departures, enhance your comfort during outdoor sightseeing by bringing along a warm coat, hat, and gloves. Opt for materials other than cotton whenever feasible, as it is not the most effective insulator. When it comes to sightseeing, a sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers is advisable. If you intend to dine at upscale restaurants or attend special performances, consider packing dressier attire for such occasions.
Health: Before your departure, it's crucial to consult with your doctor or healthcare provider at least 60 days in advance to stay abreast of the latest updates and entry requirements. Additional information can also be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at cdc.gov. Exercise caution during the summer months regarding sun exposure and heat, taking necessary precautions to safeguard yourself. If you rely on daily medication, ensure you have an ample supply for the entire duration of the tour, considering potential delays. For those with dietary restrictions or food allergies, please inform Voyages Hub at least 30 days before departure by updating your traveler information in your account. If you need to make updates closer to your departure date, kindly contact our Customer Experience Team..
Cuisine: The culinary landscape in Canada exhibits numerous resemblances to British cuisine, and Americans will recognize several familiar elements as well. While in Canada, it's recommended to explore local favorites like butter tarts, poutine, and dishes infused with maple syrup.
Health and Insurance: Consider acquiring travel insurance to safeguard against unforeseen medical expenses. Ensure you obtain any essential vaccinations as advised by your healthcare provider.
Currency: The official currency in Canada is the Canadian Dollar (CAD). It's recommended to carry some cash, but credit cards are widely acknowledged.
Language: Canada recognizes two official languages, namely English and French. While English is the primary language spoken in most areas, French predominates in Quebec and some parts of other provinces.
Electrical Outlets: Canada operates on a standard voltage of 120V, and the plugs commonly used are of type A and B. If your devices require a different voltage or plug type, it is advisable to bring suitable adapters.
Wifi: While Wi-Fi is typically provided by most hotels, there could be associated fees in specific instances. Motor coaches, however, do not have Wi-Fi availability. If you need information regarding roaming charges, please contact your mobile service provider.
Time Zones: Canada spans various time zones due to its extensive geographical size. The time zones in Canada include:
- Pacific Standard Time (PST) - UTC-8:00 (observed in parts of British Columbia)
- Mountain Standard Time (MST) - UTC-7:00 (observed in Alberta)
- Central Standard Time (CST) - UTC-6:00 (observed in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, part of Ontario)
- Eastern Standard Time (EST) - UTC-5:00 (observed in most of Ontario, Quebec, and parts of Nunavut)
- Atlantic Standard Time (AST) - UTC-4:00 (observed in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and parts of Labrador)
- Newfoundland Standard Time (NST) - UTC-3:30 (observed in Newfoundland and Labrador)
It's important to note that some regions in Canada observe daylight saving time, where clocks are adjusted forward by one hour in the spring and set back by one hour in the fall. The application of daylight saving time can vary by province and territory.
Tipping and Gratuity: After your tour, it is customary to give a gratuity to your Tour Director and driver in the local currency. When providing tips, please take into account the prevailing exchange rates. We recommend tipping your Tour Director an equivalent of USD 8 to USD 10 per person per day and your driver an equivalent of USD 3 per person per day. If you had local guides during the tour, it is also suggested to give them an amount equal to USD 2 per person. Please be aware that gratuities can only be settled in cash.

REVIEW
From the moment we landed in Halifax, the trip felt seamless. The waterfront walk was the perfect welcome to Nova Scotia — lively, friendly, and full of character. Peggy’s Cove was simply magical; the lighthouse against the crashing waves looked like something out of a painting. I appreciated the relaxed pace and well-organized itinerary — enough time to explore without feeling rushed. Our guide shared great local stories, and I loved discovering small coastal cafés serving the freshest seafood. Definitely pack a windbreaker for the ocean breeze!
What an incredible Atlantic Canada adventure! The Annapolis Valley vineyards were a pleasant surprise, but Digby stole the show with its world-famous scallops — the dinner there was easily the best meal of the trip. Hopewell Rocks was a once-in-a-lifetime sight — walking on the ocean floor at low tide was surreal. I also enjoyed Saint John’s market and Moncton’s friendly, easygoing vibe. Every day offered something different — from small-town charm to stunning coastal scenery. Hotels were cozy, and the drives were scenic and comfortable. A perfect mix of culture, food, and nature.
I’ve always dreamed of visiting Prince Edward Island, and this tour made it even better than I imagined. The Green Gables Heritage Place felt like stepping into a childhood story, surrounded by rolling fields and red cliffs. Charlottetown had so much charm — friendly locals, great seafood, and lovely boutique shops. Then Cape Breton completely blew me away! Baddeck was peaceful and picturesque, and the Alexander Graham Bell Museum was surprisingly fascinating. The evening by Bras d’Or Lake, watching the sunset with live local music, was the perfect ending. Next time, I’d stay an extra night — it’s that good.
