Welcome to Japan! Upon arrival at Kansai International Airport, you will be met by an English-speaking assistant and transferred to your hotel in Osaka. After check-in, the remainder of the day is at leisure to rest and adjust to the time zone.
Overnight in Osaka
After breakfast, you will meet your private guide for a full-day exploration of Osaka. Your tour begins with a visit to the iconic Umeda Sky Building, a striking skyscraper made up of two towers connected at the top by the "Floating Garden Observatory" on the 39th floor. From here, enjoy panoramic views of the city through large windows as well as from the open-air observation deck.
Next, you will head to the historic Osaka Castle. Originally constructed in 1583, the castle was designed to become the center of a unified Japan under Toyotomi rule and was once the largest castle in the country. Although it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, your guide will share its fascinating history and cultural significance.
Afterward, enjoy some free time in Dotonbori before returning to your hotel for the evening.
Overnight in Osaka
Today, you will travel to the historic city of Nara to explore one of Japan’s most iconic landmarks, Todaiji Temple. This renowned temple houses the Great Buddha of Nara, an enormous seated statue of Rushana-butsu, also known as the “Cosmic Buddha.”
After visiting the temple, enjoy time at Nara Deer Park, where you can interact with the park’s famously friendly and free-roaming deer.
From Nara, continue your journey to Kyoto, Japan’s former capital for over a thousand years. Here, you will visit the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine, the head shrine dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice, prosperity, and foxes. The shrine is best known for its thousands of vermillion torii gates that form a beautiful tunnel through the forested slopes of Mount Inari.
Overnight in Kyoto
After breakfast, meet your private guide and begin a full-day journey through Kyoto’s cultural highlights.
Your first stop is the Kyoto Imperial Palace, which served as the residence of the Imperial Family from 794 to 1868 during the time when Kyoto was the capital of Japan. You will have the opportunity to walk through the palace grounds and admire the traditional architecture and beautifully maintained gardens.
Next, visit Arashiyama, one of Kyoto’s most popular sightseeing areas known for its scenic beauty and historic charm. A highlight here is the Sagano Bamboo Forest, an iconic and highly photographed location where walking through the tall bamboo groves creates a peaceful and unforgettable experience.
The tour continues with a visit to Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion. This stunning Zen Buddhist temple is covered in gold leaf and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrounded by serene gardens and reflective ponds, it offers a truly beautiful and tranquil setting.
Overnight in Kyoto
In the morning after breakfast, you will proceed to the train station to board the high-speed Shinkansen to Tokyo. Feel the excitement as the bullet train whisks you across the countryside at speeds of up to 320 km/h (200 mph)—a quintessential experience of modern Japan.
Upon arrival in Tokyo, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Perhaps you can book the following optional excursions.

You will ascend to the deck located at a height of 350 meters (1148 feet), so be sure to have your camera and phone fully charged to capture the incredible scenery.

An incredible journey from start to finish. I loved how this itinerary balanced modern cities with traditional culture. Kyoto was stunning, especially the bamboo forest and golden temple, while Tokyo had so much energy and excitement. The hotels were comfortable, and the transfers were very well organized. The day trip to Mount Fuji and Hakone was definitely a standout. This tour gave me a real feel for Japan in a short time.
This was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. Every detail was taken care of, which made it easy to just relax and enjoy.
